I find from enquiries made at the Foreign Office and at the Admiralty that it will be impossible for me to obtain a passage to Hong Kong by the Mail of the 20th of this month.
I have determined not to take a servant with me.
I have therefore respectfully asked that a first-class passage may be appointed to me for myself, my wife, and daughter in the Packet which will leave Marseilles on the 4th of March next.
Thinking it proper to check with me to see if I purpose taking my son to Hong Kay, and they to ask for a second-class passage for him in the Packet which will leave Southampton on the 1st of March.
